Story of the week

I write out of my belief that writing is healing, not merely letters set down on a page.

Arabic short stories and novels, carefully written to remain with the reader after the final page.

About the author

REEM KHAMEES

Here’s the English translation: An Arab writer who believes that every person carries within them a story worth telling, and that writing is the only bridge between what we feel and what we are unable to say. My journey with writing began during my university years, when I discovered that storytelling was not merely a form of entertainment, but a means of survival. I was eighteen when I wrote my first short story, and I did not know then that I would continue writing for the rest of my life. Since then, I have never stopped weaving together reality and dreams, memory and imagination. I write short stories and long novels, drawing inspiration from the details of everyday life: people’s whispers in cafés, closed doors, unsent letters, and places we pass by without ever truly noticing them.
